A financial institution Climate Commitment ObservatorySUSTAINABLE FINANCE AND MARKET INTEGRITY: NEW 2DII REPORT IDENTIFIES CRITICAL REGULATORY GAPS 7 June 2021
In this report, 2DII analyses the regulatory framework applicable to environmental impact statements in the financial sector. This framework includes general consumer protection rules (applicable to all sectors) as well as specific rules for the financial sector. 2DII identifies worrying inconsistencies between the general consumer protection rules, the application of the financial sector specific rules and the position of financial regulators. Furthermore, the new disclosure requirements being developed under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and the Taxonomy Regulation do not address these issues. Therefore, the market response to these new disclosure requirements is inconsistent with the general consumer protection principles that apply to the financial sector itself. Download file
